No obligation. We'll call to book a time.

The part of the job nobody sees, and everything depends on

Diamond grinding removes the weak top layer of concrete, along with old coatings, glue and surface contamination, and opens the surface so whatever goes on next can bond into it. Nearly every coating failure we’re called to look at traces back to this step being skipped or rushed.

We grind as part of our own floor installations, and as a standalone job for builders, tilers, vinyl and waterproofing installers, and owners who just need a slab brought back to bare, sound concrete.

    What It Fixes

    Reasons a slab needs grinding

This is the difference most quotes don’t explain, and it changes both the look and the price.

    Old coatings & paint

Failed DIY epoxy, garage paint and sealers. Ground back mechanically rather than stripped with chemicals, so nothing is left behind to break the next bond.

    Tile adhesive & carpet glue

The most common call we get after a renovation. Glue and adhesive ridges have to come off completely, not just be knocked down.

    Laitance & dusting slabs

The weak, powdery top layer left by the trowel. It looks like concrete but nothing sticks to it, and it has to be cut through before coating.

    High spots & trip hazards

Lipped joints, humps near doorways and ridges that make vinyl ripple or stop tiles sitting flat. Grinding takes the peaks off, within limits.

    Oil & contamination

Service bays and under machinery. Ground and degreased, though deeply soaked patches sometimes need cutting out instead.

    Membranes & renders

Old waterproofing membranes and surface renders removed back to substrate before new systems go down.

    For Trades

Prep only, for other trades and builders

We’re happy to grind and leave. If you’re a tiler, vinyl or hybrid installer, waterproofer or builder, tell us the finish going down and we’ll profile the slab for it and hand it back clean.

    Frequently Asked Question

It depends on what's being removed. Bare concrete being profiled is at the lower end; thick tile adhesive or an old membrane can take several times as long over the same area. We quote after seeing photos or the slab itself.

No, and be careful of anyone who says it is. Vacuum extraction at the machine captures most of the dust, and sealing the work area contains much of the rest, but dry grinding always produces some airborne dust. We tell you what to cover and which rooms to stay out of.

Grinding. Acid etching is faster and cheaper, which is why cut-price operators use it, but it often leaves the weak surface layer and any contamination in place. That's the single most common reason garage floors lift within a year or two.

Yes. Outdoor slabs are often easier for dust, but harder on tooling because of surface hardness and exposure. Tell us what's going on top afterwards, since the profile changes with the finish.

Yes. Prep-only work is welcome. Tell us the system going down and we'll profile the slab to suit it, then leave the floor clean and ready for you.
